I currently have a problem with both thumbs, ring fingers, and middle fingers. Will see hand specialist next week. It can be associated with arthritis and might not be.

网页2009年10月13日 · Osteoarthritis(the arthritis of aging) will affect the outer most joints of the fingers but doesn't affect the hand knuckles as much and the base of the thumb and rarely the wrist. Rheumatoid arthritis doesn't affect the outer most joints but does affect the hand knuckles and the whole wrist.

Doctors thought I was having a CTS flareup after shoulder surgery, turns out that it was not in fact the problem it was c4-c7 being herniated with c6-c7 crushing the nerves.
