Naresh Meena, the Independent candidate who contested Rajasthan by-polls from Deoli-Uniara seat was shifted to Tonk Jail amid tight security on Friday evening. Meena slapped an SDM during polling for by-elections and was later arrested by the police.

Independent MLA candidate from Rajasthan’s Tonk district Naresh Meena was arrested on Thursday, a day after he slapped a sub-divisional magistrate during polling leading to high drama action between the villagers and the police.

Even before Naresh Meena became infamous for slapping SDM Amit Chaudhary outside a polling booth in Tonk, the 44-year-old rebelled against the Congress over seats, including once before last year's Rajasthan Assembly polls.

The bypolls in Tonk, Rajasthan turned violent after Naresh Meena confronted SDM Amit Chaudhary, leading to unrest and 60 arrests. Supporters engaged in stone-pelting and arson, causing extensive damage to vehicles.

Meena’s foray into politics began in 2003 when he was elected as general secretary of Rajasthan University Students' Union. Fondly called ‘Chhota Kirodi’ by his supporters.

A video had been widely shared on Wednesday, purportedly showing Meena slapping Malpura sub-divisional magistrate Amit Choudhary at a polling station in Samravata village in Tonk district.
