Pixel Watch owners: Brace for a longer wait as Google works on fixing Wear OS 5 update
In a new community update, Google says it plans to resume the Wear OS 5 update for the older Pixel Watches later this year, once it has mitigated the observed issues. So if you were hoping to get the Wear OS update sometime soon, you’ll have to temper your expectations and possibly wait another month or so.
Google Pixel Watch's fixed Wear OS 5 update may not arrive anytime soon
In a post on Google's support forums, a Google Community Manager confirmed pausing Wear OS 5's release for the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 on September 26, 2024, following black screen reports. The company now plans to "resume the WearOS 5 rollout to these devices later this year" after fixing the issue.
Google rolling out new charging screen to old Pixel Watches
With the Pixel Watch 3, Google introduced a new charging screen that is now rolling out to older wearables. The original screen had a more elaborate green animation that ended with a two-line clock. The day and date appear at the bottom, while the percentage is noted above along with a ring.
