An heirloom seed company has researched the reason why red poppies became connected to Veterans Day and given KTAL permission to share the story with you.

This story begins on the Western Front during WWI, specifically around the Flanders region in Belgium where trench warfare and artillery battles took place during The Second Battle of Ypres. The battle lasted for more than a month.
