Amazon could be readying the next device in its long line of Kindle e-readers for a surprise launch. According to a new report, the company could be so close to launching the next Kindle that we'll see an announcement as soon as next week (the week of September 30).

Amazon is gearing up to release a new entry-level Amazon Kindle e-reader on October 1st. This e-reader has a better front-lit display, with 25% brighter illumination and a new system-wide dark mode. This Kindle is made with 75% recycled plastics and 90% recycled magnesium.

The new model boasts better illumination and will come in a Matcha Green colour. Amazon hasn't released any new Kindle models since 2022, but it looks like that could be about to change. A new version of the entry-level Kindle has made an appearance online – albeit not from Amazon itself.

A Spanish retailer has a listing for a new 2024 version of the entry-level Kindle with a release date listed as September 30th, as spotted by Good e-Reader. The new Kindle will have a six-inch, 300ppi screen with improved contrast and a backlight that’s 25 percent brighter than the model Amazon released two years ago.
