Chennai Super Kings are uncertain about using the Uncapped Player rule to retain MS Dhoni for IPL 2025, as discussions with him are yet to take place.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that the franchise remained unsure if they want to retain MS Dhoni as an uncapped player, He further revealed that the franchise is yet to hold discussions with Dhoni over the same.

After the BCCI announced the reintroduction of the uncapped rule, it was seen as a formality that MS Dhoni will return to play for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2025 IPL. However, the franchise have cast major doubt on whether the five-time IPL-winning captain will return to play another season for them.

Using the uncapped player retention rule, CSK have the opportunity to retain one of the leagues most iconic players, MS Dhoni, for a mere Rs 12 crore across three seasons. However, there is still uncertainty about it.

No news of CSK establishing contact with the talisman or Dhoni himself confirming the same has come out yet. So, the question arises: Have the fans celebrated too early?
